MR. MAGIX – 30s-40s male. Proprietor of a Harlem night spot. Cool, confident, has swag. Gives advice on style and love. Seeking all ethnicities. Sings MY ONE AND ONLY and HIGH HAT. Must be a great tapper/hoofer. Baritone.

REPORTER – 25-40 year old female. Seeking all ethnicities. Must have great pop vocals. Must be a good mover. Mezzo, must have solid low F.

SYNOPSIS: From Emmy-Winning “Simpsons” writer Mike Reiss: Alvin, an aging comedy writer with one last shot at a network meeting, is trapped under rubble by an LA earthquake. A hilarious look at TV, theater, Heaven and Hell — from one who’s been there.

ALVIN: 53 year old writer in Hollywood. CAST: BRUCE VILANCH

DIANE AND OTHERS: early to mid 30s female. A network executive, snotty, first-rate in producing last-rate content. Also plays: BRIE – Alvin’s very sexy ex-wife. A bitch who wants her way and will sleep with anyone to get there. THE VIRGIN MARY – not like any Mary we’ve seen before, a tough, no-nonsense Mom, more Jewish than Catholic – but then again, she would have been. Needs to be able to carry a tune. MOM – an ‘always put your jacket on when you go outside’ kind of Mom, loves her son unconditionally. Sweet, but a little dim.

DAD AND OTHERS: late 50s-early 60s Caucasian male. Kindly, the heart of our show. The sweet gentleman who raised Alvin and wanted nothing more than the best for him. A good-spirited sense of humor. Also plays GRUFF GUY – a brusque man who knows the value of hard work and instilling that value in his children. Heartbroken over his son’s let-downs. Willy Loman in “Death of a Salesman”.

LEE: 60s male. A funny, faded agent, older and more useless than dirt, who hasn’t had a successful client in umpteen years. A once fast-talker now trapped within his own frame of reference, lovable in his own sad way. Jewish, the leftover markings of your typical L.A. “showbiz” type. CAST.

JEROME AND OTHERS: 30s male. A flamboyant “theatrical” type who is a little long in the tooth to be doing summer stock and calling it professional. Needs to be able to carry a tune. Also plays: SIGMUND FREUD – a comedic representation of the famed psychoanalyst. SECURITY GUARD – wants to keep his job, follows company policies regarding “emergency procedures” to a faulty T, but kind and offers to help those who need it…eventually.

PROFESSOR AND OTHERS: late 30s to early 40s male. A smug theatrical professor, probably should have been a critic instead. Also plays: JESUS – a “total dude”. If the big JC were to surf instead of walk on water, this would be him.

DENNIS DUPREE: An older (40’s) guy who runs the famous “Rock of Ages” club on the Sunset Strip. He is caught between a rock and a hard place when German business men pressure him to sell his club. He is possibly heavyset with very strong comedic timing. Any ethnicity. PRINCIPAL

STACEE JAXX/ FATHER: A Rock Star. He is Middle-Aged, Caucasian and very sexy. He is at the top of his game and just left his very successful metal rock band to venture out on his own. He has very strong comedic timing and a strong rock voice. Arrogant and charming, his life is a merry-go-round of good old sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. This actor will also play Sherrie’s father.
