Subject Line: THE BUFFALO KID [ROLE]

THE BUFFALO KID: After being abandoned by the love of his life, a young street musician in New York City loses his ability to play and is forced to sell the only thing in his life that he cares about – his trumpet. Buffalo Carter, a young trumpet player living in New York City, is hitting rock bottom. The love of his life has left him and he no longer has the skill or the inspiration to play the trumpet. Hungry and hungover, the cursed young man will have to face the option of having to sell his trumpet, the only thing in his life that he still cares for. But who’s the mysterious stranger who watches him from the street corner as he tries to blow out a few notes for a buck? And why is she following him on this particular day?

[BUFFALO CARTER] 20s male. A brilliant trumpet player living in New York. A recent broken heart has left a hole in his inspiration, leading him down a spiral of self-destruction. Even though he can be charming and even compassionate, the isolation has turned him into a moody hopeless romantic with an appetite for whisky and cigarettes. NO TRUMPET EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

[KAT] 20s female. A beautiful dancer living in New York. She’s smart, quick-witted and sometimes charmingly aggressive, but when near Buffalo, her guard is down. Her admiration of his music inspires and motivates her to pursue her own art. Even though she hides it, Kat is a dreamer when it comes to love.

[JEAN-PIERRE LEFEVRE] 30s-40s male. A tragic artist who ended up as a beggar stumbling around New York. His drunken attitude and ragged look are contrasted by his surprisingly poetic rhetoric skills. Even though life has no meaning to him at the moment, he still hopes that one day his lost lover will come back to save him.

[LUZ] 60s female. An old Mexican card reader in New York. Originally a superstitious woman, she’s grown to learn the futility of the cards. She even invented her own card system, as a way to make extra money from the miserable wandering souls of the city.

[MR. DIEDERICH] 40s-50s male. The owner of a small music store in New York. His vast knowledge of musical instruments (and of people) allows him to jump in and take advantage of his less knowledgeable and inexperienced clients. The man is greedy, pretentious and has a fine ability for words. Must Be Able To Do A German Accent.

[STARR] 40s female. A bitter and cynical pole dancer in New York. Love is no longer an option.

Subject Line: MISS A Tour

Synopsis: Five years ago, Miss Abigail opened
her mailbox to find the screaming Star Magazine headline that changed
her life forever: “Jen and Brad SPLIT!” Determined to find out why
modern love seemed so elusive to so many, Miss Abigail started
rereading her collection of vintage dating, mating, and marriage books
and was moved to action. She made it her mission to use the classic
advice of a simpler time to solve the contemporary troubles of the
lonely hearted, and began a column in her local paper. The column lead
to a blog, which lead to a celebrity following, and finally a national
tour. Now on the 12th stop of this tour, Miss A, along with her ever-adoring
assistant Paco, shares her outrageously funny “how-to’s” on dating, mating,
and marriage, showing us that sometimes you have to go back to go forward.

For more information visit www.missabigailsguide.com or www.davenporttheatrical.com.

[SEEKING FOR TOUR REPLACEMENT]

[MISS ABIGAIL] a widow, 50s-70s. Warm, funny, hip, and attractive in a hot-grandma way. Equally at home baking cookies or talking about sex. She is a nurturer and wants only to help her followers find love, though she herself has a hard time seeing that love can sometimes be staring right at you . . . and speaking with a Spanish accent. Think Florence Henderson meets Dr. Ruth. Actor must be a strong improviser and comfortable with audience interaction.

Subject: GARAGE BAND [ROLE]

GARAGE BAND: When recently-turned 40 year old Mitch Shapiro loses his job as an investment banker, he is forced to do the unthinkable…move back in with his mom…in New Jersey. And when his Mom suddenly faces foreclosure, Mitch realizes he has no other choice but to “put the band back together” and face his arch-nemesis in a rematch of their infamous battle of the bands from 20 years ago. All actors must be excellent pop/rock singers. Ability to play instrument a plus.

Seeking:

[MITCH] 40 year old male. Musician turned investment banker. Returns home to live with his mom and get his high school band, Juggernaut, back together. Looking forward to his “do-over”.

[BART] 40 year old male. MITCH’s best friend, Jack Black-like side kick. High school math teacher, although he sucks at math. Played in Juggernaut.

[SHARON] 60s year old female. 62 going on 29. MITCH’s mom. Full of life, jogs every morning, goes to Pilates every afternoon. Might have been an Aerosmith groupie before she became a NJ mom.

[DANI] 40 year old female. MITCH’s high school sweetheart. Never left town. Unaware of her own strength. Single mom.

[GORDON] 60s male. Owner of the music store, Gordon’s Music. Never grew out of his hippie days. Blind.

[TYGEN] 40 year old male. Owns all the real estate in Sayreville, NJ, thanks to the money his dad left him before getting carted off to jail Douchebag with a capitol D. 20-years-running champion of the town’s Battle of the Bands, and don’t you forget it. Lead singer of the band Mouthfeel.

[RITCHIE] 40 year old male. TYGEN’s loyal sidekick. Very Jersey. Proud of his brown belt in Tiger Schulmann’s Karate. Plays in the band Mouthfeel.

[SULLY] 40 year old male. Police Officer, but not a good one. Sweet. Naive. At first glance you’d think, “Oh my, there is a big, tough Irish cop. I better not step out of line because he could crush me like bug.” Then, when he speaks, you realize he watches The Notebook and cries, while eating Ben & Jerry’s. Played in Juggernaut.

[ROXY] 30s female. Police Office and SULLY’s partner. Pretty and no nonsense. Producers are especially interested in seeing ethnic performers for this role.

[ROBBIE] 40 year old East Indian male. Dermatologist, just like his Dad. Played in Juggernaut.

[RICKY] 16 year old male. Jewish. Dresses like a rapper. Talks like a rapper. Newest band member of Juggernaut.

[BILLIE] 16 year old female. DANI’s daughter. Going through a goth phase. A budding feminist.

SUBJECT: DAY 427 – Cody

DAY 427: 427 days ago the world ended. Now two brothers struggle for survival when people are willing to kill for canned food.

SUMMARY: In a post-apocalyptic winter wasteland, Jem does impressions from famous movies while his older brother Cody kills to protect them. They build home-grown alarm systems out of fishing line and tin cans and they ice fish for food. As the brothers travel from abandoned barn to rotting farm house, chased by gangs riding snow mobiles and brandishing machine guns, the brothers do whatever it takes to stay alive.

CAST:

[JEM] NOAH ROBBINS (Broadway’s Brighton Beach Memoirs)

SEEKING:

[CODY] 24 year old Caucasian male. Brown hair, brown eyes. He’s the ultimate guardian – part father, part brother, all parts protector. He’s tough as nails, his survival instincts honed from a childhood of action films. The responsibility for his kid brother’s life very much weighs on him. He’s barely slept more than two hours at a time, preferring instead to stay up and stand guard. Despite it all, has kept his sense of humor and finds his brother’s antics hilarious, endearing, and very much worth protecting.

Subject Line: PACO TOUR

Synopsis: Five years ago, Miss Abigail opened
her mailbox to find the screaming Star Magazine headline that changed
her life forever: “Jen and Brad SPLIT!” Determined to find out why
modern love seemed so elusive to so many, Miss Abigail started
rereading her collection of vintage dating, mating, and marriage books
and was moved to action. She made it her mission to use the classic
advice of a simpler time to solve the contemporary troubles of the
lonely hearted, and began a column in her local paper. The column lead
to a blog, which lead to a celebrity following, and finally a national
tour. Now on the 12th stop of this tour, Miss
A and her ever adoring assistant Paco are spreading the word that
sometimes in order to go forward, you have to go back.
For more information visit www.missabigailsguide.com or www.davenporttheatrical.com.

[SEEKING]

[PACO] Miss Abigail’s hot, 20-30-something Latin assistant. Paco acts as stage manager, prop man, and side kick for Miss A, and he would follow her through the gates of hell if she ever decided to go there. His love for Miss A comes from a personal belief in her teachings, as she helped him get over a breakup several years ago and offered him a job. Paco loves Miss A – more than most assistants love their bosses – and tonight is the night he decides to do something about it. Actor must be a strong improviser and comfortable with audience interaction. SEEKING ACTORS, IMPROVISERS, AND/OR COMEDIANS.
